Foundations & Corporations
The Housing Development Alliance uses the power of housing to transform lives and build a brighter future for our community. Affordable housing not only gives East Kentucky families hope, but it also gives them opportunities, financial stability, and greater self-determination.

Gifts and support from foundations and corporations have helped us make many positive changes and improvements in our Appalachian community. Thanks to the financial assistance these entities provide, we build 17 to 20 homes each year and complete 60-70 home rehabs & repairs.
As a result of our lean operations and program-focused spending, the Housing Development Alliance has grown to become one of the largest nonprofit affordable housing developers in the state of Kentucky! We are grateful for the confidence our supporters have demonstrated through their giving.
Corporate giving has helped us grow and expand our service area to serve more families in need. These relationships are beneficial in three key ways:
- First and foremost, more East Kentucky families in need of affordable housing receive the housing help they need.
- HDA has the residential construction materials and funding it needs to serve more low-income families than ever before in our Income-Based Homeownership Program and Home Repair Program.
- Through sponsorships and special funding opportunities, HDA can complete home repairs for East Kentucky homeowners who have severely limited financial resources, are elderly, and/or disabled at little to no cost to them.
These partnerships are key to what the Housing Development Alliance seeks to accomplish in East Kentucky. Your support helps make these mutually beneficial results possible:
- Low-income families are empowered for generations, resulting in stronger family units, better communities, more civic engagement, and higher levels of employment and education,
- An improved local economy (HDA spends $1,500 every working hour of every workday on local labor, materials & subcontractors AND our programs help add thousands of dollars to the local tax base),
- Support for HDA from other foundations and corporations is generated by showing that our partners feel the mission of HDA is a worthy cause, and
- Our corporate partners develop meaningful connections with the community by identifying themselves with our history, mission, and impact.
Matching Gifts
Double Your Gift to HDA!
Corporations have been involved in the support of nonprofits like ours for decades. Some make significant gifts to charity through social responsibility initiatives, however, one of the most popular forms of corporate giving is the matching gift.
A Matching Gift Program is considered an employee benefit program. Employees who express their generosity and concern for charity are often given the opportunity to have their donations matched one-for-one, two-for-one, or even three-for-one. Individual firms set their own employee requirements, such as full-time, part-time, retiree, spouse, etc., and many have a minimum gift amount – typically, $25 or $50, but it can certainly vary.
The application process, too, may vary. For
